Through a statement, the National Police Service said that they had been trailing the notorious suspect since 2021.

Bhang is and remains illegal in Kenya. And it’s for good reasons that the plant is prohibited. The socioeconomic downside of the herb outweighs the gains

Notorious Peddler

“The notorious peddler who has always outsmarted officers had no more options up his sleeves when he was handcuffed during a crackdown operation on illicit brews and drugs,” read the statement.

According to the police reports, the suspect escaped in October 2021 during an operation that saw a haul of 800 rolls of bhang nabbed.

The police went ahead to state in a statement on Twitter that the drug is still illegal in the country.

“Bhang is and remains illegal in Kenya. And it’s for good reasons that the plant is prohibited. The socioeconomic downside of the herb outweighs the gains.”

The suspect will be arraigned in court on charges of causing harm to the community and beyond.
