Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma is back to the political ring.
Ranguma on Monday August 8, declared that he is back to the race to reclaim the governor position, but failed to disclose the political party he will run on, only mentioning that he is strongly in the broadbased arrangement.
Ranguma served as pioneer Kisumu Governor in 2013, but failed to retain the seat following a defeat by Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o in the 2017 election.
In 2022, Nyong’o retained the seat after beating Ranguma a second time.
With Nyong’o’s term set to come to an end on August 10, 2027, Ranguma has launched his bid, saying he is coming back to complete his second term which ‘was snatched from him’.
”This morning, I stand before you again to declare my interest to seek the seat of governor of Kisumu. I know there are so many who have spoken before me but people are judged by their fruits there are some who said they will,” Ranguma said.
“Let me start by saying this. Ranguma is nobody’s project. Instead, people can be my project,” he added.
Ranguma said he completed over 1,000 development projects, some of which have not been well maintained by the current administration.
With the launch of his bid coming exactly a year to the next general election, Ranguma noted that he is ready to face his opponents.
