Sierra Leone’s story of prosperity would not be complete without Kenya.

This is according to President Julius Maada.

Mr Maada who was the chief guest during Kenya’s 59th Madaraka Day celebrations in Nairobi rained praises on the people and leadership of Kenya, saying Sierra Leone has immensely benefited from the country’s generosity.

According to Mr Maada, despite Kenya and Sierra Leone having different paths towards independence, the two countries have shared a lot.

We have triumphed over diversities and we have worked hard to build trust, inclusivity, peaceful nations on both sides of the great continent

“We have triumphed over diversities and we have worked hard to build trust, inclusivity, peaceful nations on both sides of the great continent,” said Maada.

He said the bond between the two countries have remained stronger, with Sierra Leone benefiting immensely.

Democracy

With Sierra Leone being the fourth most peaceful democracies in Africa, Mr Mada said this achievement is partly attributed to Kenya.

“When Ebola struck, Kenya gave us doctors during that difficult moment,” he said.

He noted that Kenya also supported Sierra Leone establish its first ever digital census.

“Our two nations have stood together in war, in peace, and in solidarity,” he said.

He praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the great development record on infrastructure, education, health, among other sectors, which he said was worth emulating.
