Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has moved to diffuse tension in the area after ODM Party nominations.

Otiende met 23 out of the 26 individuals who sought the party ticket in the five wards in the constituency in a bid to forge unity.

I know we have come from hotly contested primaries. It was capital intensive and many of you spent to the coin

Having been awarded a direct ticket by the party, Otiende’s is now to ensure that the constituency faces the August poll united.

Bury the hatchet

The MP asked the ward contestants to bury their differences and work together to consolidate the orange party grassroots democracy.

“I know we have come from hotly contested primaries. It was capital intensive and many of you spent to the coin,” Otiende said.

He added; “But that’s gone, let us now try to work together for the common good of all and our party.”

Dr Otiende nudged the contestants to concentrate on the Raila Odinga presidency gospel.

Our eyes are trained on the ultimate political prize which is the presidency. Anybody who loves Raila and wishes him well in his bid should heed our passionate and humble appeal for unity

He assured election losers that there were opportunities in Raila government, and even a chance to reclaim the seats in the next election.

“Our eyes are trained on the ultimate political prize which is the presidency. Anybody who loves Raila and wishes him well in his bid should heed our passionate and humble appeal for unity,” he said.

Dr Otiende observed that without pulling together, little will be achieved.

Peace and unity

He said there was no need to begrudge anyone, adding that in politics one wins today another tomorrow.

Otiende recalled his long and tortuous Journey to the National Assembly saying it was no mean feat but by faith, hope and resilience, he made it after several attempts in vein.

The aspirants lauded the steps taken by the legislator as good.

They vowed to work with him to campaign for Raila peacefully saying the interest of the people of Rarieda overrode their personal choices.

Consequently, they agreed to back Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta resolve to unite Kenyans to heal the deep seated ethnic divisions that polarized Kenya in the successive regimes.
