The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has registered 548,188 new voters since the start of the second phase of mass voter registration.

The diminishing figures come below their target of 2,987,138 voters in the past 14 days.

According to commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, an additional 1,054 voters have been recorded in the diaspora.

The voter registration exercise has entered its final week and the process is set to come to an end on February 6.

According to the latest records, Nairobi has the highest turnover with 356,590 voters, followed by Kiambu at 201,340 and Nakuru 152,278 voters.

The commission has urged Kenyans to come out and register, so that they achieve the target of 4, 480, 706 in this second phase of mass voter registration.
