Kenya welcomes role to broker peace deal in Sudan conflict

Sudan has experienced unending fights following a disagreement betweeen Sudanese generals Muhamed Hamdan Daglo and Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

The war between the two has been going on since mid of April 2023.

Attempts made by US and Saudi Arabian mediators to reconcile the two have proven futile.

Inter- Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) announced increasing the number of African countries handling the crisis, Kenya joining the list.

During IGAD’s Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Djibouti, Kenya was assigned the role to broker peace deal in Sudan’s Conflict.

President William Ruto now says they welcome the expansion of the IGAD Troika on Sudan aimed at resolving the instability in the country.

“Kenya commits to meet the two parties face to face and find a lasting solution to the crisis,” said President Ruto.

President ruto added that IGAD had resolved to have Kenya, Ethiopia, S.Sudan and Somalia convene faceto face engagement with warring Sudan Generals.

He furthered:“ In the next three weeks we will begin the process of an inclusive national dialogue.”
