President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto was warmly welcomed in Kisumu on her maiden tour of the lakeside city.

The first daughter who recently captured the nation’s attention following recent public engagements visited Kasagam Secondary School in Kisumu East Sub-County where she was received by the area MP Shakeel Shabir.

During the visit Charlene donated Sh.100,000 as well as sanitary towels to the institution.

She further planted a ceremonial tree as she pushed her mass tree planting drive urging the residents to plant more trees.

“We are on a mission to mitigate climate change effects, I have planted mine and am urging residents to plant more trees, “she said.

“The vision on climate action must be taken seriously for us to have a sustainable future,” she furthered.

Whirlwind tours

Charlene has been attending official assignments both locally and internationally, and her moves have since created curiosity on the objective of the visits.

Last week Kenyans took to twitter and raised concerns over the First Daughter’s mission ever since the inauguration of William Ruto as the fifth president.

Unlike the others she has been described to be a different kind of first daughter considering the last four presidents’ children who did not seek out the limelight.

Over the weekend she visited Kuria West Constituency where she planted a tree and was gifted by the elders hinting her interest in politics.

She has in the recent past held meetings with top county officials in Embu, Kirinyaga, Isiolo and Kitui.
