Uhuru at 61, birthday messages pour in for former President

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is celebrating his 61st birthday.

The immediate former Head of State was born on 26th October, 1961.

He was elected as President in 2013 and held the office for two consecutive terms after which he peacefully exited after his term elapsed.

Kenyans took to twitter to wish the Kenyatta a happy birthday as he celebrates his first birthday out of State House just a month after he handed power to his Successor President William Ruto.

Uhuru Kenyatta is the son of the first President of the Republic of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

He got his name ‘Uhuru ‘ which means freedom at a time when Kenya was drawing close to attain its independence from the British colonialists.

Kenyans shared memories of what the president had done while terming him as and a good leader.

“Happy birthday to His Excellency The retied President Uhuru Kenyatta, some of us have testimonials of how you changed our lives. We will forever be grateful, ” wrote @Ruth Mueni.

“Happy birthday Sir, your reign made us who we are today, we will forever remember you,” said Captain Domnic Omondi.

“Happy 61st Birthday President Uhuru Kenyatta and many more. Kenyans are already missing you, enjoy your retirement,” said another user on Twitter.
