Inside DPP Haji’s meeting with IEBC Returning Officers

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has met IEBC returning officers following security concerns by the officials.

The DPP indicated that the RO’s had complained intimidation and threats before, during and after the election.

This also comes after the death of two IEBC officials this month.

We remain committed to executing our constitutional mandate in accordance with the rule of law to provide security

Embakasi Returning officer Daniel Musyoka went missing and was later found murderd four days later at in Loitoktok.

Gichugu IEBC returning officer Geoffrey Gitobu also collapsed and died at the IEBC Nanyuki’s office on Monday.

The officials further decried that they have suffered physical, emotional, material, and reputational damage while performing their duties.

The DPP however assured the officers of their commitment to ensuring their safety.

“We remain committed to executing our constitutional mandate in accordance with the rule of law to provide security,” he said.

Haji also noted that they are still following up non the death of the slain IEBC official.
