ECD leaners to get free meals in Kisumu

Early Childhood Development (ECD) learners across Kisumu County will now benefit from a free meal program that was officially launced on Wednesday by the county government.

While flagging off the program, Kisumu Deputy Governor Matthew Owili said the feeding program was launched in a bid to address nutritional needs among young learners and cushion them against hunger.

Owili said all learners across all the ward in the county will receive rice worth Sh 14 million in move to by the county to keep them in school.

Management

The DG further pledged that the county government will further provide beans as part of the program.

Education CEC John Awiti urged the headteachers and the school management to strictly use the food for the intenteded purpose.

The feeding program will begin with the distribution of 16,000 bags of rice.

Awiti further added that the county government will further provide more resources to assist ECDE learners.
