Search for giant catapult in Kisumu after police officer succumbs to stone injuries

A police constable has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital ICU.

Ben Oduor, who was attached to Keroka Police Station in Nyamira was part of a team Kisumu that had been deployed to mage the Azimio anti-government protests.

According to a police report the corporal was hit by a giant homemade catapult and stones as they engaged in running battles with the rioters.

We call upon any member of the public with any information on where the weapon can be found to report to the nearest police station

“The weapon which we have now classified as a lethal weapon is dangerous and our officers are already searching for it,” said Nyanza Regional Police Commander Noah Mwivanda.

Oduor was hit by a stone drawn from the weapon while trying reinforce security at Jamia Supermarket which was being looted.

“We call upon any member of the public with any information on where the weapon can be found to report to the nearest police station,” furthered Mwivanda.

He further revealed that two men have already been arrested and will be arraigned in court for murder charges.
