Two suspects in SIM swap fraud arrested in Kisumu

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Kisumu have arrested two suspects in SIM Card fraud investigation.

Saleh Omar,38 and Omar Ahmed, 27 have been on the run since December.

Regional DCI boss Geoffrey Kathurima said the two were arrested in Kondele, Kisumu.

The suspects were leading wide syndicate in Mombasa and have conned individuals over Sh.380,000.

“We arrested the suspect’s in Kondele this morning,” he said.

“They have been on the run and have been wanted for fraud reported in Mombasa,” said Kathurima.

We are appealing to those who have been frauded to report and provide us with evidence

He further said the suspects are being held at Kondele police station and will be handed over to  DCI officers from Mombasa who will take over the investigation.

“We have contacted our colleagues in Mombasa and they will be transported to record statements over fraud cases,” he said.

Kathurima further called on the public who might have been swindled by the suspects to report to the nearest DCI offices.

“We are appealing to those who have been frauded to report and provide us with evidence,” he said.
