It’s not Governor Ochilo, our problem is assembly leadership, say wrangling Migori MCAs

Members of Migori County Assembly have denied claims that they have any differences with Governor Ochilo Ayacko.

Instead, they say all the problem is with the assembly leadership.

Their sentiments follow chaos that erupted at the assembly two days ago, where the MCAs decried intimidation by the house leadership, forcing them to conduct house businesses amidst unresolved grievance.

We have no problem with the executive. In fact, we wanted to meet with the Governor and we did

Similarly, the MCAs complained of their welfare not being looked into as they lament over tough economic challenges.

Speaking to the press at the assembly compound, they said their misunderstandings with the house leadership have nothing to do with the county boss.

“We have no problem with the executive. In fact, we wanted to meet with the Governor and we did,” said Olima Obonyo, member for North Kadem Ward.

“We have solved the issues of the bursary with the Governor and forms will be released from 19 January 2023”, he added.

Trouble makers

The MCAs accused the house leadership of keeping key information about the assembly business for themselves.

They reiterated that they are ready to work with the governor and are not going to entertain anyone who wants to bring division among them.

“We want to tell off some two or three cartels who think they are so superior to others or are so close to the Governor,” said Eunice Odii, member from Central Kanyamkago.

“Such individuals have a tendency of trying to block others from reaching the governor. We are not going to entertain them”, she added.

The jostles witnessed at the assembly’s compound on Monday 16, left one member seriously injured.

On the same day, the Governor convened a meeting with the county lawmakers to iron out the differences.
