As top performers in the 2022 KCPE examination spoke of big career goals such as Medicine, Aviation and Engineering, Syprose Omawa’s was different.
All the 14-year-old who sat for her examinations at Hekima School wants to pursue is a course which would lead her into professional cooking.
“I love cooking,” she said.
Omwa scored 405 marks out of the possible 500.

Omawa wishes to join Kenya High School for her secondary education, and then proceed to the university to pursue a course in Culinary Arts.
“I would want to actualize my passion in that line, so I would be glad to pursue a career that would lead me there,” she said.
Omawa was one of the top performing girls in Kisumu County.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Mochogu on Wednesday released the results in which the leading candidate scored 431.
And as soon as Omawa received her results through the short code, she was overwhelmed with joy.
She joined her fellow candidates, parents and teachers at Hekima School in songs and dances as they celebrated both their individual and the school’s performance.
Mother’s approval
Her mother, Julian Ogondo who accompanied her to the school said she would allow her daughter to pursue her dream.
“She is the last born of my three children. The first born studied Nursing while the second born is currently in the university studying computer science,” she said.
She said Omawa has been passionate about cooking, and she was sure that the young girl will achieve her dream of becoming a top chef just as she managed to become one of the top performers.

Omwa attributed her good performance to hard work from the part of teachers, her parents, as well as her dedication.
“First I would wish to thank God who has brought me this far. I also appreciate everyone in my life who worked tirelessly to see me succeed,” she said.
“I had targeted to get above 400 marks, and I am glad I have achieved that,” she added.
The school head Peter Okello described Omawa as a hard working girl who is destined for greatness.
“She is a girl who is passionate about what she believes in, and I believe she is destined for greatness in whatever career she chooses,” said Okello.
