Kisumu county’s healthcare has received a major boost after receiving Sh.20 million worth of medical equipment.
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) CEO Dr.George Rae received the equipment on behalf of the Governor ahead of distribution to other health facilities.
Microscopes, lab refrigerators, bio safety cabinets, autoclaves, 201 banquet seats, 90 conference table and filing cabinets were part of the equipment set to be distributed to nine health facilities.

The equipment were a donation from Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) after signing of a MOU with Kisumu County Government in a bid to strengthen the health system.
Enhancing Capacity
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Aga Khan Primary, Dr.Rae lauded the project for enhancing capacity of health services.
“The equipment will ensure quality service to community as well as improve the quality of care given to patients,” said Dr.Rae.

He further said the programme will increase access to non-affording members of the community through training and knowledge dissemination across professionals in the medical fraternity.
Aga Khan CEO Jane Wanyama said the campaign which started in 2021 has strengthened the health sector in the capacity building training.
“75 staffs have undergone training on advanced cardiac life support while 284 staff on basic life support,” said Wanyama.
She further said the programme will be expanded to Bungoma, Busia, Migori and Kisii counties.
