Civil Society wants IEBC to have regular updates on poll preparedness

Civil Society Organizations have questioned IEBC preparedness to deliver the August 9, elections.

Under the auspices of the Angaza Movement, the 10 organizations asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to clear the air on 10 key issues relating the next elections.

The organizations include; Kenya Human Rights Commission, AFRICOG, MUHURI and the Civil Societies Organizations Network, among others.

Top on the Angaza Movement list of questions is the issue of electoral technology.

“IEBC needs to confirm to Kenyans and allay any fears that this election will be managed using technology and that it will not fail,” noted the group.

The group say the increase in the number of registered voters and polling stations means more technological demand.

The group also questioned the procurement of elections equipment which they claim is shrouded in mystery.

This comes after reports on voters illegally transferred went viral.

The group wants IEBC to sit down with all stakeholders and clear the air on the issues raised.

The also want the commission to give fortnight updates on its preparedness to deliver the polls.
