Siaya gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Gumbo was on Saturday cleared by IEBC to contest in the August 9th polls.

Gumbo will be contesting under the United Democratic Party (UDM).

Speaking to the media after the clearance, he criticized the six-piece voting pattern being propagated by ODM allied candidates.

“Six-piece is a selfish idea that is being propagated by people who have either no record or agenda for the people,” Gumbo said.

Odinga Backyard

He further noted that ODM leader Raila Odinga will not be vying on an ODM ticket, a reason enough to not suggest for the voting pattern.

Gumbo will be battling Siaya Senator James Orengo of ODM and William Otieno who is contesting as an independent candidate.

Both Orengo and Otieno will be seeking clearance from IEBC on Monday 8th.

The battle to succeed Governor Cornel Rasanga will be a test for Azimio presidential candidate and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Odinga is set to visit his Siaya backyard on 18th May.
