Kisumu residents have been asked to prepare for a two day interruption of water supply.

This follows a planned maintenance of Kajulu Water Treatment Plant.

Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) said the maintenance is aimed at improving efficiency in service delivery.

To achieve this (efficiency), Kiwasco has scheduled for a routine maintenance of the Kajulu Water Treatment Plant

Kajulu Plant is one of the two water treatment points, with the other one being Dunga Treatment Plant.

Kajulu supplies the biggest area, with over 60 per cent of the entire water Kiwasco supplies in Kisumu.

The plant which draws water from River Kibos is cheaper as it uses gravity to supply the commodity, as opposed to Dunga which is pumped using electricity.

And in a statement to the customers, Kiwasco asked the residents to store enough water to serve them during the maintenance period.

The maintenance, the company indicated, will improve the effeciency of its service delivery.

“To achieve this (efficiency), Kiwasco has scheduled for a routine maintenance of the Kajulu Water Treatment Plant,” read the statement in part.

The statement added: “This will take place on Monday 9, and Thursday 12, May, 2022.”

“This is expected to cause a full day supply interruption in parts of Kisumu served by the plant.”

The areas set to be affected include; Kanyamedha, Kibos, Otonglo, Tieng’re, Uzima, Lolwe, Migosi, Mamboleo, Guba, Gita, Wathorego, Chiga, parts of Manyatta and adjacent areas.
