Kisumu will send 25 players to represent Kenya in the East Africa Local Authority Sports Association (EALASA).

This follows staller performance by the county government in last year’s Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA).

Kisumu emerged position two in the competitions, bagging 14 trophies.

The county has 23 sports categories during the KICOSCA through different levels.

Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Wednesday flagged off the team that will be participating in the EALASA games to be hosted in Eldoret starting next week.

He distributed sports gear that will be used by the team as part of the preparation support ahead of the games.

He also said his government had allocated Sh23.8 million towards the purchase of sports equipment.
