Former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo wants Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua to take over as Mount Kenya community spokesperson after President Uhuru Kenyatta.

With President Kenyatta set to retire from politics after the August 9, election, Mr Jirongo suggests that Karua is best placed to take over the mantle, given her strong political standing.

According to Jirongo, Ms Karua, christened the ‘Iron Lady’ during her stint in parliament, has remained steadfast in the country’s political scene.

“When I was in parliament, we had only one man, that is Martha Karua. The rest of us were women,” said Jirongo, adding that Ms Karua attracts respect across the country.

“Mount Kenya you have men, but when you count the men, Martha Karua is the first man, however she is in a dress,” said Jirongo.

He added; “When she says ‘no’, she meant ‘no’, and if you are looking for someone to guard your county resources, then that is Martha Karua.”

Jirongo expressed confidence that One Kenya Alliance will form the next government, asking them to join the movement, and foster unity.

“You must have a stand. President Kenyatta has spent his time giving you infrastructure. Ours now is to ensure the people have money in their pockets, which means proper use of the resources we have,” said Jirongo.
