Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has pledged massive investment in healthcare when elected Trans Nzoia Governor.

Natembeya who resigned from the national administration job this month has already declared that he will be running for the gubernatorial position on Democratic Alliance Party (DAP) Kenya.

According to Natembeya, the past leadership of Trans Nzoia has given residents a raw deal, a situation which has seen lack of adequate infrastructure.

He said due to lack of proper hospitals, women have been giving birth in maize plantations due to difficulties in accessing healthcare.

“When I become Governor, I want to see functional healthcare with medicine, equipment and staff,” said Natembeya during an interview in a local TV station on Wednesday night.

He added: “Women of Trans Nzoia will nolonger deliver inside maize plantations. We will have to even fly in specialists from Eldoret or Nairobi, just to ensure that our people get standard healthcare.”

The no-nonsense administrator reiterated the need to transform the infrastructure of the county, as well as service delivery.

He is also targeting issuance of title deeds to Trans Nzoia residents, claiming that over 70 per cent of land owners in the area have no titles.

“I know after my first five-year term, the people of Trans Nzoia will be begging me to go for the second term, because I want to make them feel the value of government,” he said.

To deliver the pledges, Natembeya said he will ensure that all county staffs sign performance contracts, with those who cannot deliver paving way.
