Ugandan Opposition Leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine now claims he won the 2021 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview in one of the local television stations, Wine described the electoral commission which declared Museveni the winner as ‘fraudulent’.

Wine who is in Kenya for Uganda Human Rights Accountability Conference said President Yoweri Museveni did not rig the election, but disregarded the results.

What would be the purpose for running for President if this time round I beat General Museveni hands down, to the extent that this time round they did not rig, but disregarded the results

He said the organizers of the human rights conference chose to hold it in Nairobi as Kenya is a safe haven for democrats.

He described Museveni as a dictator who thrives on human rights violation to hold on to power.

“Uganda is under military dictatorship. Looking back, I know that no dictator lives forever. No oppressed people have been oppressed forever,” said Wine.

“Soldiers in Uganda torture chambers make a joke that ‘we do not know Human Rights, we only know Human left’.”

Wine said many young people have been awakened, and are continuously standing up to demand for their rights and to determine their future.

“If there is any time to be hopeful, it is now,” said Wine.

EAC intervention

Wine said people of East Africa want accountability, calling on the East African Community to swiftly move and help stop the atrocities being perpetrated by Museveni.

Wine claimed that he joined politics and the presidential race in a bid to push away dictatorship in the country and entrench democracy.

“What would be the purpose for running for President if this time round I beat General Museveni hands down, to the extent that this time round they did not rig, but disregarded the results,” said Wine.

“Every legal tool was disregarded,” he added.

Wine claimed that himself and members of his camp were tortured, killed, arrested, but still, he beat Museveni.
