Drama in Nairobi Assembly as ODM MCA deviates oath, swears by Raila’s name

The swearing in ceremony of Nairobi Members of the County Assembly(MCA) was disrupted after a nominated ward representative swore by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

On Thursday 29, Joyce Jamosa deviated the oath and swore allegiance to Odinga as the leader of ODM party which nominated her to the assembly.

“I Joyce Jamosa do swear in the name of the almighty God that i shall be loyal to my party leader, ” read Jamosa.

This caused drama in the assembly as the judicial requested for the oath to be checked if they gave out a wrong one.

The Clerk of the Nairobi County Assembly Edward Gichana asked her to retake the oath.

“I Joyce Jamosa Lugonzo do swear in the name of the almighty God that I shall truly and diligently serve the people and the Republic of Kenya in the office of MCA of Nairobi City. I will be loyal to my party leader,” she read.

“That I shall diligently perform my duties and discharge my functions in the said office to the best of my judgment, so help me God.”
