Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe now says Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is still in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition.

According to Murathe, Kalonzo is bound in the coalition by the agreement which bars members from leaving six months before and three months after elections.

“Kalonzo is still in Azimio because that agreement says you cannot get out of it six months to the election and three months after the election,” said Murathe during an interview with one of the local TV stations.

He is not being forced by anyone. If he would want to quit and vie as a presidential candidate on a Wiper ticket then we have no problem with that and I am told he had been told as much

“The reason for that is because in the event of a run off, you cannot pledge allegiance to the other formation,” furthered Murathe.

He further noted that Kalonzo is not being forced to stay in Azimio, but that he is free to contest a Wiper ticket.

“He is not being forced by anyone. If he would want to quit and vie as a presidential candidate on a Wiper ticket then we have no problem with that and I am told he had been told as much,” said Murathe.

This comes after Kalonzo decamped the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance and announced that he would run for the presidency on the Wiper ticket following the announcement of Martha Karua as Odinga’s running mate.
