A section of Kenyans on Twitter have expressed anger over a tweet by Deputy President William Ruto.

The DP tried to urge Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka not to attend the Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya Alliance running mate interviews.

The country’s number two said in his statement that the interviews carried by the Azimio team would be humiliating to Kalonzo who can be a good running mate without subjecting him to nonsensical interviews.

Though we are competitors, to subject HE Kalonzo to some humiliating interview is impunity

“Though we are competitors, to subject HE Kalonzo to some humiliating interview is impunity,” read the tweet.

It went on: “We must unite to eliminate the culture of political deceit, the hallmark of some politicians.”

“Whatever the circumstance every leader deserves some dignity and respect, heshima si utumwa,” wrote the DP.

Netizens angered

His remarks caused a stir among his 4.6 million followers on Twitter, with some telling him not to meddle in other Azimio’s business.

“You can’t be here singing hampangwingwi lakini nyinyi mnataka kupanga vile Azimio wanafanya mambo yao. You guys know very well that a running mate from Mt Kenya will finish you. That’s why you are trying to push Kalonzo for it,” Konstantin responded.

But William, you were also interviewed by Muthama and Veronica Maina for UDA presidential candidature, a party that you own

Netizen

“But William, you were also interviewed by Muthama and Veronica Maina for UDA presidential candidature, a party that you own!” wrote Tambara Geoffrey.

He went on: “Are you saying that you were similarly subjected to some humiliating interviews? Was your interview impunity? You were interviewed, Kalonzo is OK.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Bro you tend to be focusing on Azimio than UDA. If your heart is in Azimio feel free to join. When the panels are giving news not favoring you, you could be insulting them.”

All in all, Kalonzo however attended the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance running mate interviews.
