Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential aspirant Raila Odinga will on Friday leave the country for an official tour to the United States.

According to a statement signed by Odinga’s campaign secretariat Professor Makau Mutua, the ODM party leader will use the trip to explain his agenda for the country and his candidacy to the international community.

“Mr. Odinga will take the opportunity of the visit to outline his vision for Kenya, underline the importance of the strategic and historic US/Kenya relationship and the vital interests that the two countries share,” read the statement in part.

The US trip coincides with the last day of the ODM party primaries which will be held in Nairobi.

Odinga had a month ago toured the United Kingdom where he met the government officials together with Kenyans in the diaspora.

Odinga will hold meetings with senior US government officials, members of the US Congress and Kenyans in the American diaspora.

The meetings will be held in the nation’s capital Washington DC and later in San Francisco where Odinga is expected to meet leaders and entrepreneurs in the IT and technological space.

The former Prime Minister will be accompanied Governors Wycliffe Oparanya, Ndiritu Murithi and James Ongwae, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Dr Sally Kosgei, Senator Otieno Kajwang among others.

Odinga will be in the week-long tour from 22nd to 29th April.
