Residents of Kisumu are expected to benefit from high-quality and accessible healthcare after Africa Air Rescue (AAR) opened its second hospital branch in the city.

AAR launched the medical facility on Friday to offer x-ray, ultrasound, pharmacy, laboratory testing and wellness check-ups as well as specialized services such as paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology, physical medicine and dentistry.

Speaking during the event, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o said his government is delighted to work with AAR to bring more quality healthcare services closer to the people of Kisumu and those from other neighbouring counties.

With Kisumu being the third biggest city in Kenya and with a fast-growing population, robust health care is necessary, hence our desire to partner with other partners such as AAR

“With Kisumu being the third biggest city in Kenya and with a fast-growing population, robust health care is necessary, hence our desire to partner with other partners such as AAR,” he said.

Nyong’o further noted that the opening of the new centre compliments the efforts by the County Government in the provision of Universal Health Care with the support of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Quality Healthcare

The group CEO Steve Okeyo said the new venture will help ease the pressure that bears on our public facilities while bringing a unique match of affordability and quality of care across an exceptional range of healthcare services.

“This new AAR outpatient centre is an addition to another which is located at the Al Imran centre along Oginga Odinga road and the two centres will now handle more than 15,000 medical visits a year,” said Okeyo.

He added that the hospital will continue to increase its branches across the region to provide quality care within neighbourhoods.

“We plan to play an increasingly significant role in the expansion and access of quality and affordable healthcare in our country by putting up additional facilities within the reach of most Kenyans,” he furthered.

Okeyo also noted that the accreditation is an assurance that services offered are in line with global standards and on par with the best international hospitals.

Launching another clinic in Kisumu follows the opening of a 140-bed state-of-the-art level five AAR Hospital in Kiambu.

The hospital has various outpatient centres in Kenya and Uganda.
