One shot dead in Kisumu during Azimio mass action

One person has been allegedly shot dead by police officers as they dispersed protestors in Kisumu.

The victim whose has not been identified was shot around Kondele during the demonstrations against the high cost of living.

The development came as demonstrators engaged police in running battles from as early as 8.00am.

Various businesses have been paralyzed as residents took to the streets led by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron who led a section of the demonstrators out of the CBD.

The protestors have blocked major highway in Jomo Kenyatta Highway, Aga Khan hospital, Narobi road, Kondele with huge boulders and stones halting transport in and out of the city.
