Former presidential aspirant and human rights activist, Kizza Besigye has linked Muhozi’s sentiments to those of Idi Amin.

“History repeats itself! Uganda’s general seeking to control Kenyan territory: 46 years after Idi Amin, it’s now Gen. Muhoozi,” said Besigye.

History

In line with Uganda’s geographical history, a report by The East African states that about 1976, Colonial British Administrators had given away some Ugandan soil to Kenya which includes the whole of the Rift Valley Province and North western Kenya.

Amin had argued that the colonialists made several mistakes when they were making territorial demarcations.

I’m happy that members of our district in Kenya have responded enthusiastically to my tweet. It’s still two weeks to Nairobi

“I’m happy that members of our district in Kenya have responded enthusiastically to my tweet. It’s still two weeks to Nairobi,” Muhoozi had further stated.

In accordance to this, the report continued and said Amin wanted back all Kenyan districts that were part of Uganda before the colony re-demarcation of territorial boundaries.

He said Uganda’s borders were beyond all areas of Western Kenya up to about 30 Kiometres from Nairobi.

In 2018, Kenya and Uganda had previously had a geopolitical tussle over Migingo Island in Lake Victoria.

A section of Kenyans urged the head of state to summon Uganda’s ambassador to Kenya, Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, over the remarks.
