Mysterious fire has gutted a dormitory at Friends School, Bokoli High hours after reopening after the December holidays.

According to school principal Musonye Namusembe, the fire broke out at around 6pm on Tuesday while students were having supper.

Only Forms One and Two students were in school at the time of the incident while the rest of the students were expected top report to school the following day.

The principal explained that the cause of the fire is still unknown with investigations underway even as he ruled out an electric fault leaving students to be the most probable instigators of the incident.

The 150-bed capacity ‘Koffi Annan’ dormitory was damaged rendering 45 beds damaged.

Education officers from the Sub County visited the institution earlier Wednesday and assessed the extent of damage.

Thee officers urged the students to maintain calm as investigations continue to reveal the cause of the fire.

The public works team from the Bungoma County Government also visited the scene, but was yet to report on the exact degree of damage caused.

Parents’ representatives led by Samuel Sikolia asked well-wishers to come on board and support the institution to regain normalcy.

The principal also noted that they had not considered closing the institution owing to the degree of disruption caused being low.
