With less than three weeks to the polls various church leaders from a range of denominations in Bungoma county have heightened their call for peaceful elections.

Speaking in Bungoma while marking 14 years of service for the Revival Prophetic Ministries the leaders called for peaceful campaigns and diligent decision at the ballot.

According to Bishop Ignatius Wanjala of the Prophetic Ministries Ignatius it is the role of the clergy to preach peace and pray for the country during this period.

“It is our utmost obligation as a church to urge and encourage our people and more so our political leaders to front peace in their campaigns and during elections,” he said.

“We know as election day draws close so do the tensions but we should all remember that we have one country and one county. Therefore, we all should seek to ensure this one country is habitable beyond election day,” furthered Wanjala.

Youth leaders present at the event also used the opportunity to woo youths to resist the temptations of being used to propagate violence and crime.

The church youth leader Ambrose Wekesa urged the youth to take a firm stand gainst violence and use of force.
