Deputy William Ruto has responded to the ongoing leaked audio of him confessing to nearly slapping President Uhuru Kenyatta after the court nullified the 2017 general elections.
Speaking during a campaign in Meru, the DP confessed that at the time everything was at stake for both of them and he could not allow the President to relinquish the seat after the Supreme Court nullified the results.
According to Ruto, he had every right to fight for what he says he had put in much effort than the President during the campaigns at that time.

“Did you want us to allow him to leave the seat that we woke up at 5.00am for and leave us in the dark?” posed Ruto.
Ruto revealed that he could not let Raila Odinga lead the country after investing so much in their campaigns even if it meant pushing the President to what extent.
“When David Maraga nullified the elections and ordered that we should go for a repeat, did you want him to drop his bid and let NASA take over, I would not let him,” said Ruto.
He further noted that he forced Uhuru to take over the Country and reap from what they worked for.
