The State Department for Public Service has rolled out the Africa Public Service Week 2022 national celebrations in a tree planting event at Ngong Forest Nairobi.
Speaking during the event, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands Development Chief Administrative Secretary Abdul Buhari cited the strong connection between this year’s theme and tree planting.
“This year’s theme is Environmental Conservation and Climate Change Initiatives,” he said.
“Tree planting is at the center of environmental conservation and is the primary reason why we hail this specific event,” he furthered.
The government understands and appreciates the important role that environment plays in reinforcing development consistent with Vision 2030 which is primarily to provide the people with a clean, secure and sustainable environment by 2030

Public Service Principal Secretary, Mary Kimonye also highlighted government efforts to boost climate change.

The symposium will include presentation of scholarly pieces consistent with the country’s theme which is –Transforming the Public Service, 10 Years Journey and Beyond

She went ahead to state, “It is the reason we today roll out a tree planting session here at Ngong Hills where we will plant 1000 seedlings.”
The Africa Public Service Week will be marked between 20th June and 23rd June.
Public Service and Special Programmes will hold a symposium and exhibition on Tuesday 21st June at KICC.
“The symposium will include presentation of scholarly pieces consistent with the country’s theme which is –Transforming the Public Service, 10 Years Journey and Beyond,” read the statement from Kimonye.
