The Commission for University Education (CUE) has revoked Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja’s degree certificate.

The Senator had presented a Bachelor of Science in Management Degree from Team University in Uganda.

In a letter signed by CUE Chairman Prof Chacha Nyaigotti, the commission informed Sakaja that it would need to investigate the authenticity of his degree.

The commission now says that it will open probe into the validity of the papers Sakaja presented before the IEBC for clearance to run.

“It is no longer valid until we are satisfied with these other matters. For the time being, the document is not recognized,” said Prof Nyaigotti.

“There have arisen many other concerns that are not academic but criminal in nature,” he furthered.

Sakaja was cleared by IEBC to contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on June 7th, despite reports that he does not have a university degree.
