I’m back to complete my legacy projects, says former Nyakach MP

Former Nyakach Member of Parliament Pollyns Ochieng Daima is back to the ballot.

Daima was on Monday, May 30, cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The former law maker who served in the 10th Parliament will be seeking to get back to the legislative house on an independent ticket.

Daima will be one of the 10 candidates gunning for the seat on August 9 after Nyakach IEBC Returning Officer Shaolin Meiguran handed him a clearance certificate.

Speaking at Pap Onditi, the Constituency Headquarters, after the clearance, Daima exuded confidence that he will win the race.

Daima had participated in the ODM primaries in his quest for the seat.

He however ditched the party, and chose to get to the ballot on an independent ticket.

“I have done this for thousands of my supporters who felt I needed to be in the ballot after the disputed party primaries,” said Daima.

Daima claimed that the last ten years has seen the gains he made during his reign as MP reversed.

“I have gone round the constituency, and what I see are projects which I initiated during my time as MP. The last ten years has taken this constituency several steps back,” said Daima.

The former legislature said dispute vying on independent ticket, his support for ODM party leader Raila Odinga is unchanged.

He noted that he was the seconder for the Independent Bill which was proposed by colleague, the lake Orwa Ojode.

“I am glad that I am a beneficiary of the law I was part of its formulation,” he said.

Also in the race are incumbent MP Aduma Owuor (ODM), Okoth Opande (Independent), among others.
