Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka is officially a candidate for Bungoma Governor race.

The pioneer Bungoma Governor was on Sunday cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to run on Ford Kenya ticket.

Lusaka was accompanied by party leader Moses Wetangula and a host of supporters.

Speaking after being awarded the nomination certificate, Lusaka reminded his supporters his dedication to ensuring he transforms the county.

“My administration will empower the youth, women and ensure economic revamping of our county,” he noted.

I acknowledge the high taxes imposed on the business community. As a way of assisting our people, I am going to give a tax holiday such that during weekends and public holidays businesses will not have to pay taxes

“I will ensure county contracts are executed by local contractors because I understand many of the contractors executing tenders in the county today are outsiders which has denied our people an opportunity to develop economically,” he added.

Lusaka also announced a tax holiday for the county’s business community.

“I acknowledge the high taxes imposed on the business community. As a way of assisting our people, I am going to give a tax holiday such that during weekends and public holidays businesses will not have to pay taxes,” he added.

Victory

Wetangula assured supporters of party efforts to ensuring they clinch victory in the August polls.

“We are now ready to tackle our opponents and we will indeed ensure that we bring victory home,” he noted.

He used the platform to echo the call for strict adherence of the election laws by the candidates while urging the media to uphold equality in their coverage.

“We want IEBC to be strict with those who flout the law especially those candidates who propagate violence,” he noted.

“We also urge our media outlets to demonstrate equal allocation of coverage time,” he added.

Lusaka is the first gubernatorial aspirant to be cleared by the commission as the rest of the aspirants are scheduled to appear before the commission next week.
