This is the year for Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The declaration of the August 9, presidential election will mark the peak of the commission’s work.

What many people fail to realize is that election process is a five-year cycle which begin immediately after the end of a general election and ends with the swearing in of newly elected leaders in the next general election.

Almighty God of all creation most sovereign, pure and merciful. We are grateful for the privilege to serve our motherland

IEBC prayer

And just like Kenya has a special prayer in the name of the National Anthem, the IEBC also has special prayers which staffs recite before undertaking any official activities.

Below is the prayer which as a stakeholder to the commission, you need to have at the back of your mind, and recite as a way of spiritually supporting the commission to conduct its activities successfully.

“Almighty God of all creation most sovereign, pure and merciful. We are grateful for the privilege to serve our motherland…

…We acknowledge you to be the source of life and giver of wisdom. We seek your guidance and pray that you order our steps, as we strive to deliver on our Constitutional mandate…

…As we commit to serve our beloved Country, enable us meet the democratic aspirations of the people of Kenya…

…Almighty God, we pray that you guide the work of our hands, that we may foster sustainable democracy in our country…

…Bless Kenya, bless this Commission and grant us peace, love and unity, now and forever. Amen”
