Political temperatures in Suna West Constituency are surging high as the incumbent Member of Parliament Peter Masara and his predecessor Joseph Ndiege are out to give each other a run for their money.
Ndiege who served as the area MP from 2013 to 2017, is out to dethrone Masara who is seeking another five year term.
The Billboards
Barely a month ago, Ndiege mounted a gigantic banner on the billboard at the heart of Migori town just off the border where River Migori separates the two border constituencies of Suna West and East.
The incumbent retaliated by erecting on the same billboard, a banner of a similar magnitude facing the opposite direction, making it a “scratch your back” scenario on his sworn antagonist
These developments have set the bars high for the other aspirants seeking the parliamentary seat making it seem a two horse-race.
According to Magnate Ventures, the space leasing farm, they charge a minimum of Sh 150,000 per month for the mountings.
The aspirants will now have to dig deeper into their pockets for the remaining five months.
The Rivalry
The high political tone for the constituency has also seen factions of boda boda supporters differs between the two aspirants, forcing others to be forcefully evicted from the stage at Namba Junction.
All eyes are now set on the Orange Democratic Movement nominations to see who carries the party ticket to the August general election.
