The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has come out to refute claims that some of the aspirants already have nomination certificates.

The statement comes amid utterances by a section of aspirants that they have already secured a chance to pass through the nominations.

Most affected areas are the party’s Nyanza strongholds, where aspirants claiming to be close to the party leader have been claiming that Raila Odinga has approved some lineups.

The party has termed the claims as misleading, and should be ignored.

“There are people (aspirants) some holding party positions going round their respective areas claiming that they already have nomination certificates for the August 9, general elections. The National Executive Board is warning such individuals to desist from misleading and disenfranchising other party members,” the party clarified in its official Twitter account on Thursday.

Raila’s sister, Ruth Odinga was among the first politicians to raise an alarm over the claims, saying such utterances would lead to voter apathy.

“If Raila is moving round the country seeking for votes, who are you to sit here and peddle rumours that you already have some lineups! We will begin exposing you,” said Ruth.
