I will prioritize digitization of the Revenue Collection, says Governor Ochilo

Migori Governor Elect Dr. Ochilo AyacKo has said that his new administration will prioritiZe the digitiZation of revenue collection.

Speaking during his swearing ceremony as the second Governor of Migori County by Justice Kiarie Waweru Kiarie, Dr. Ochilo said that his administration will focus more on revenue collection to increase county finances.

“My administration will digitize revenue collection to ensure that no cash is lost in graft while at the same time streamline the department of revenue collection to boost its workforce”, said Ochilo.

The Governor said that value addition in agriculture through the value chain, clean piped water and creation of employment to both youths and women will be given priority.

Ochilo further added that he will also champion inclusivity and unity among the Migori residents to ensure that the community leaves in harmony.

He also urged his new administration to serve the public with utmost dignity and respect to ensure that quality public service delivery is achieved.

“Other areas that the new county administration will focus on include strengthening the Migori Worker’s Sacco and implementing the Migori Master Plan policy,” said Ochilo.

Governor Ochilo

The new Governor emphasised that he will install proper working mechanisms to streamline every sector in order to realise effectiveness and efficiency in departmental offices for the betterment of public service delivery.

Deputy Governor Dr. Joseph Mahiri noted that he will give full support to Governor Ochilo to ensure that their manifesto is implemented for the betterment of the Migori residents. Dr. Mahiri however emphasized that it was important to build unity among the citizens to ensure that the county’s economic growth is realized.

Outgoing Governor

Outgoing Migori Governor Zachary Obado urged the elected Members of the County Assembly to give humble time to Governor Ochilo Ayacho to delivery on his mandate.

He noted that it was important for the new administration to be supported fully by the members of the county assembly to realize the vision and manifesto of Governor Ochilo.

During the reign of Governor Zachary Obado the county had proposed a cashless revenue collection programme that was yet to be implemented. On the revenue sector, The 2022-2023 Financial Year saw a total of 350 million in revenue collected.

The former Governor had also admitted that the county had the potential to collect about 100 million boda boda revenue if all the corruption loopholes were to be sealed.
