Former Citizen TV news anchor Hussain Mohammed has joined the Hustler Nation.

Hussein was on Monday, January 24, appointed the Head of Communications at William Ruto Presidential Campaign.

Deputy President William Ruto made the announcement shortly after meeting his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party parliamentarians at his Karen home.

“Hussein Mohammed, renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign. Welcome to the Hustler team,” Ruto wrote in his official Twitter handle.

The former news anchor will lead the Ruto Presidential Communication team, charged with responsibilities of churning out campaign messaging.

Former State House Digital Director Denis Itumbi has been playing the role of disseminating the campaign related messaging, and it is not clear how Hussein’s entry will affect his roles.

Hussein describes himself as a Consultant; Development and Political Communication. Journalist and political show host. Life is more than who we are.

He joined Citizen TV in 2008, and left the station after a decade where he rose to become a household name through his News Night Show every Tuesday night.

His tough interviewing skills distinguished him as a strong journalist, earning him opportunities to interview the big names in the country’s political scene.

“It has been a wonderful 10 years at Citizen TV. I have enjoyed and relished every moment I shared with my colleagues at RMS. I have decided to take a break after October In Sha Allah to concentrate on other matters. Loved the fans, the critics and everything in between. See you soon,” wrote Hussein in his exit message.

He left the show in the hands of the now Multimedia Editor Waihiga Mwaura.

And previously together with Janet Mbugua, they hosted ‘The Big Question’ news bulletin on Monday’s 9 PM at the same station.

His entry into politics will now give Kenyans a glimpse of his other side of partisan life, after serving as a neutral journalist for several years.
