Normalize menstruation talks lobby urges residents amid stigma concerns

Inua Dada Foundation Trust is on the move to promote menstrual health and wellness across the country in a bid to curb stigmatization among the youth.

Speaking during an interview on one of the local television stations, the lobby group founder Janet Mbugua called on the need to highlight and address the challenges around menstrual cycles.

Menstruation is a natural part of human biology and there should be no stigma around discussing menstrual health and wellness, we must normalize the conversation around menstruation,” she said.

The foundation champions further efforts to promote menstrual health and wellness as a health care right and a human right.

Mbugua further noted that Menstrual health is a human rights issue that affects gender equality and the socio-economic achievement of women.

“It is heartbreaking that hundreds of millions of people around the world are stigmatized and discriminated against for their menstrual cycles,” she furthered.

The lobby is now calling for dialogue among people and menstrual education among peers to curb this menace.
