The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) payroll is set to grow by 30, 000 staffs in the next ten days.
Commission CEO Nancy Macharia said the 30, 000 new teachers will be posted in Junior Secondary Schools on January 30.
The commission has been conducting interviews for the new positions, with Dr Macharia saying today (Friday) is set to be the last day for the exercise.

Speaking on Friday during the release of the 2022 KCSE examination results, Dr Macharia said the exercise has been smooth, and successful candidates will soon know their fate.
“It is our intention to have the new recruits join the payroll on January 30th, the same day when the Junior Secondary School learners will report to their respective schools,” said Dr Macharia.
“I want to thank all the stakeholders who have worked round the clock to ensure we professionally conduct the interviews in the biggest teacher recruitment since the late 1990s,” she added.
“I assure the country that this process has been conducted independently and professionally while complying with the Values and Principles of the Constitution.”
Retooling teachers
According to Dr Macharia, all the teachers who will be recruited in the ongoing exercise will be put on a retooling regime that will ensure they adequately to attend to Junior Secondary School learners.
She said 2,376 master trainers have been trained ahead of the retooling exercise of all the new teachers.
“We target to train 90,000 teachers between now and April 2023,” she said.
She noted that the commission has also enhanced the teachers’ benefits under
the medical insurance scheme and made it better.
“I encourage the teachers to take time to familiarise themselves with all the enhanced features of the scheme to ensure they, and their families, make full use of it whenever they need medical services,” she said.
