Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr now says Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has a backup plan in case he is not picked as Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential running mate.

According to Senator Kilonzo, Musyoka will ditch the Odinga-led coalition and contest for the presidency seat himself if he misses out the deputy position.

Wiper has allegedly collected 2,000 signatures across 24 counties in line with IEBC guidelines in a move to launch Kalonzo’s candidature.

We are looking ahead. We cannot be begging all the time. We are ahead of the game

“We agreed that the signature collection should start immediately and be complete by Thursday,” said Senator Kilonzo in an interview with one of the local daily’s.

He went ahead to state, “We are looking ahead. We cannot be begging all the time. We are ahead of the game.”

The Wiper party is looking forward to conclude signature collections on Friday, after which its National Management Council will follow through with Kalonzo’s decision.

The Azimio One Kenya running mate selection panel on Thursday submitted its final three-man list of candidates.

The committee’s chairperson Dr. Noah Wekesa however declined to reveal the three names noting that the final pronouncement would be made by ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
