A win in today’s clash between Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will have a huge bearing in who lifts the English Premier League trophy next month.

Both are great coaches, and have managed to build solid teams during their stints in the arguably most successful league.

Today, Guardiola’s tough Manchester City hosts Klopp’s determined Liverpool in what pundits call the match of the season.

Manchester City are currently sitting on top of the premier league table with 73 points, a point above their opponents in today’s match.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Klopp hailed his City counterpart, calling him the best coach in the world.

“Pep is the best coach in the world. I think we would all agree on that and it might be a coincidence that it didn’t work out in the Champions League so far,” said Klopp.

He added: “If anybody doubts him, I have no idea how that could happen.”

Klopp

In response, Guardiola has heaped praises on Klopp, saying the Liverpoor tactician makes football a better place.

“I didn’t become a manager to be the best – I’m not,” Guardiola said.

He added: “I’d like to say I’m the best, but I’m not. Jurgen makes world football a better place to live. His message, he is a huge competitor.”

The counter praises are common mind games in football, and a way of easing tension.

Tension

But today’s match will not go without tension, as the two coaches trace back their pitch rivalry from their time in Bundesliga.

Klopp’s side, Liverpool, have already won one title in this season; the Carabao Cup, which they lifted against Chelsea at Wembley stadium.

They are still capable of adding the EPL and Champions League to their trophy cabinet this season.

Guardiola

But will Guardiola allow them? That will be answered 90 minutes after today’s 6.30pm kick off.

Manchester City are still looking forward to win their first title this season and pundits have backed Pep Guardiola’s side to win the premier league.

The team is also still in the Champion’s League competition.

Pundits say City have a 46 per cent win probability against Liverpool’s 28 per cent.

However, Klopp’s stand in a top form as they have 100 per cent win in their last five matches.

On the other hand, City have won only three out of their last five games.

In the meantime, let’s all set our eyes on Etihad Stadium.
