Church leaders from Bungoma County have launched a three-day child and youth sensitization program.

Speaking during the launch at Sang’alo Baptist Church, Bishop Clapaton Muchanga said the program is keen on decision making among children and youth.

“When we look around, there is no limitation in evidence of the dangers that face our children,” he explained.

“But we in the church have a role that we must play in ensuring that we teach our children how to differentiate right from wrong,” he added.

Morality, sexuality and ethics are some of the topics that the children and youth aged between eight and 20 years will be taken through.

More than 300 attendees were present during the launch.

Kennedy Bunusia, the lead instructor in the program urged parents from the nearby regions to present their children for the program saying they would gain significantly from it.

“While in this program we speak to children, we want to use the program to urge the youth to cultivate a culture of peace and tolerance especially during election-related periods,” explained Bunusia.

“Our female children are susceptible to different danger forms especially during long holidays like this one. We know they have been taught many of what we will teach them but due to the long periods they have been away from school, they need to be reminded,” said Edelqueen Simiyu, a program official.
