Kisumu gubernatorial aspirant Ken Obura has refuted claims of a direct ticket being issued for the county’s top seat.

Obura noted that he will be in the ballot for ODM party primaries that are scheduled for April 13th,and would only agree with his opponent if he agrees shelve his bid.

“It is possible for the party to give direct tickets in places where there are single candidates or where proper consensus have been arrived at,” he said.

“In Kisumu,we are two candidates and we can only agree with Nyongo if he pulls out of the race,” furthered Obura.

The former Kisumu Central Member of Parliament says that he is more prepared than Nyong’o and will emerge victorious in the party primaries.

Obura had earlier termed Nyong’o’s endorsement by party delegates on February 21st,as fake and that direct ticket is not an option.

“Nyong’o will go to any length to avoid facing electorates. He is scared of facing the electorates, that he will come up with fake delegates, call them into a meeting, ask them to endorse him, try to lobby Orange house to give direct ticket, which is not there, ” he said in a previous interview with LRB.

The former East African Community Chief Administrative Secretary further urged the party to conduct free and fair nominations in all the seats.

“If ODM were to conduct free and fair nominations were to be free and fair then we would never have any elected leader from other political parties or as an independent candidate in the party’s major bases,” said Obura.

Obura was picked to face the incubent following a consensus between himself and former governor Jack Ranguma, Senator Fred Outa and former speaker Onyango Oloo.
