Investors in Nandi County will no longer rely on hearsay to make economic decisions.

This follows the establishment of data desk which is expected to contain all necessary statistics from all the economic sectors in the county.

The desk has been established by the county government in collaboration with Open Institute, a non-governmental organization that promotes open governance and citizen participation.

The entity’s Executive Director Al Kags last week presided over the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the county government for the establishment of the desk.

If an investor wants to come to Nandi, they are able to know what kinds of resources are available, and economic potentials

Kags

“We are very excited to start walking this journey together with the county government as we start the process of establishing a data desk here,” Kags said.

He said the desk would be a useful tool to citizens and investors in decision making.

“If an investor wants to come to Nandi, they are able to know what kinds of resources are available, and economic potentials,” he added.

Governance

Deputy Governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot said the move would also promote transparency in governance.

“We live in an era where the constitution has given rights to Kenyan citizens, one of them being the right to information,” she said.

Through the data desk, she said residents will benefit from open contracting, service delivery and resource allocation.

She said it will be instrumental in allowing citizens to make informed decisions and aid them in public participation.
