Former Nominated Member of Kisumu County Assembly Farida Salim has been appointed the Executive Member for Roads.

The position fell vacant following the exit of Dr Joyce Osogo who is eying Homa Bay Woman Representative position in August 9, polls.

Speaking to Lake Region Bulletin, Farida confirmed accepting the appointment, saying she is up to the task ahead.

“I am humbled to have been honoured and trusted with this position, and I am now waiting for the assembly to clear me,” she said.

She said Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s move is a boost to women leadership, and that she will do her best not to disappoint.

“Women must deliver. We do not want positions to sit on them, but to ensure services get to the people,” she added.
