Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said that his government does not support any candidate in the Kenya’s August polls.

In an interview with the the New Vision Newspaper on Monday, Museveni said that his country does not take sides in the affairs of the Kenyan Election.

“Elections in Kenya or any other African country are a matter for  the people of that country,” said Museveni.

With speculations that the Ugandan head of state has been close to Deputy President William Ruto, Museveni denied the claims of supporting any side in the general elections.

Ruto has been visiting Uganda, to the extent that there were claims that he is diverting investors to the country.

he has also made several visits to the country, presiding over several public events in the presence of Museveni.

“We never take part in the internal affairs of other countries. So we have no side in the Kenyan election,” he proceeded.

The long serving president has been seen to engage with Ruto on several occasions and on one occasion the Deputy President and his allies were denied access to travel to Uganda.
